Mrs. Evelyn Wever-Croes was sworn in on November 17, 2017 as the first female Prime Minister of Aruba. Evelyn Wever-Croes is wife, mother of three, and since recently grandmother. She is by profession a tax lawyer and lawyer. She has made a career in the public sector for 13 years as head of the Tax Department, and in the private sector for 6 years as a tax lawyer and a lawyer, until she joined the political party Movimiento Electoral di Pueblo MEP in 2009.

In 2011 she was elected as leader of the MEP party. From 2009 till 2017 she served as member of Parliament of Aruba as the Opposition Leader and on November 17, 2017 she was sworn in as Prime Minister after forming a coalition with the political parties POR en RED. The Cabinet Wever-Croes has chosen a human centered approach, putting the human being first in all decisions.

One of her first challenges was to bring back the confidence of the community in Government, especially after a former minister was arrested under suspicion of government corruption. Cabinet Wever-Croes has outlined a very ambitious path towards integrity in Aruba, and we are already seeing the first results: a Bureau of Integrity. “By putting integrity high on the political agenda, we hope to bring back the confidence in Government and government processes”.
