As of 2008, Mrs. Jane Semeleer, mother of two daughters, is the 8th President of the Central Bank of Aruba. She is the first woman to occupy this position in the Dutch Kingdom. After completing her study BA and MA in Economics at the University of Toledo, Ohio, she had a challenging career for the Government of Aruba, starting in 1984, as Policy Advisor at the Department of Economic Affairs, Industry and Commerce, followed by the post of Senior Policy Advisor at the Department of Economic Affairs, Industry and Commerce and finally as Senior Policy Advisor at the Bureau of Foreign Affairs. In 1990 she made the transfer to the Central Bank of Aruba, starting as Adjunct Head of the Research Department. In 1994 she became Manager of that Department until 2000, when she was promoted to the post of Executive Director until 2008.
